TRAVEL/ADVENTURE VIDEO - Bouldering on Dover Island, Nova Scotia [PART TWO}
- BEHIND THE SCENES -
Thank goodness for the Atlantic Bubble! Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, we were able to get away with some friends for a weekend of travel and adventure to Dover Island of the East coast of Nova Scotia.
Dover Island is a great spot with LOTS of high-quality bouldering and beautiful camping, and yet completely uncrowded - we had the whole island to ourselves!
We climbed for as long as we could, but had to pause on Saturday when tropical storm Epsilon sent crashing waves and pouring rain over the island. At one point the waves broke above the rocks, and nearly washed our crash pads and other gear out into the Atlantic.
- THE PRODUCTION -
This was a personal project. I wanted to document the trip, and to also test out my new Sony a7SIII camera, which I upgraded to recently. I got to put the camera through its paces, testing it in different lighting conditions and checking its stability and auto-focus for "run-and-gun" hand-held adventure filmmaking.
I came home from the trip with over 100GB of footage, which I set to editing down into these quick highlight videos. The footage came out looking great! This was some of the most fun I've ever had editing a project, and I'm very happy with how the videos turned out.
I hope you can feel the same excitement as you watch. Enjoy!
